The Fantasticks (El Gallo)
Playhouse on the Square
Memphis, TN

After having performed with Opera Memphis each of the past two seasons, Gerbrandt returns to the gritty and grand city to make his company debut with Playhouse on the Square in the leading role of El Gallo in this classic, The Fantasticks.

Based on Les Romanesque by Edmond Rostand, The Fantasticks is a funny and romantic musical about a boy, a girl, two fathers, and a wall. The narrator, El Gallo, asks the audience to use their imagination and follow him into a world of moonlight and magic. The boy and the girl fall in love, grow apart, and finally find their way back to each other after realizing the truth in El Gallo's words that "without a hurt, the heart is hollow". The famous score, which includes the classics "Try To Remember," "They Were You," and "Soon It's Gonna Rain," is as timeless as the story itself. Having played a record-breaking 17,162 performances in its original run at the Sullivan Street Playhouse in Greenwich Village, and recently celebrated its 20,000th performance at the Snapple Theater Center on Broadway, The Fantasticks is a true New York institution which The Wall Street Journal calls "THE PERFECT MUSICAL."

Join Gregory Gerbrandt and a stellar cast as they embark on creating the most engaging and unforgettable production of the world's longest-running musical.
